“Brianna…” my name was called in a low raspy voice. I turned around so fast I thought I gave myself whiplash. My heart started to race. No one was there. Suddenly there was footsteps right near me. “Just my imagination” I said allowed to calm myself down. I got up and started to swiftly walk back to my car. All of a sudden saw someone running at amazingly fast speed. “Just my imagination, just my imagination.” Someone was breathing heavily behind me. I knew it wasn’t mine; it was off key with mine.
I was now running. The footsteps coming closer and closer. In just a blink there was a man in front of me. My body shocked from the unexpected person I lost feeling in my legs and fell to the ground. “Hello” The deep voice said. I spoke very low, “hi.” I looked up at the man. He was tall, thin, and had many scars. I gulped so loud he probably heard it. His eyes were deep purple and they had a red tint. My heart was beating so fast I was sure I would have a heat attack. I slowly got up from the forest floor and brushed the dirt and grass off of me. The man tried to grab my wrists so fast his hands were almost invisible. Surprisingly, I dodge his hands and lost my balance. I caught myself from falling though. He looked at me with a smirk on his face. I was watching his movements. He was in front of me now, my back facing the river.
He was coming closer to me and I was walking backwards taking large steps. He grabbed my wrists. I screamed. “Let me go now! Get your hands off of me! Get away!” I yelled. He pulled me to the cliff. We were at the edge of the cliff. He let go. My wrists were swollen and red. My toes were hanging off the edge. He put his hand out and the water started to bubble and make huge waves. My jaw dropped and my eyes were wide. My whole body tensed and he laughed at my shock. He spun me around, now I was facing him. I was guessing he wanted to see my expression. “Good luck Bri.” He said in an evil tone and I was shocked he knew my name. I didn’t have anything on that said my name. No necklace, bracelet absolutely nothing. He started chanting words that I couldn’t understand; he was saying them too fast. After a few sentences he grabbed me tight and pushed me off the cliff.
I screamed at the top of my lungs and in seconds I went into the wavy mysterious river with a huge splash. The river was much deeper than it looked from above. I was 11 feet under; dark water surrounded me. The only trace of light was at the surface. I barely could see the man who pushed me off. I tried with all the energy I had left to swim to the top. I couldn’t. The waves and everything was pulling me under. The only choice was to drown. Moments later the waved died down. I swam as fast as I could, but mostly floated to the top. I took deep breaths of air. I was coughing. I looked up and the man was gone. I swam to a low part of the land and pulled myself up with all my strength. I laid on the cold muddy grass for 15 minutes and finally caught my breath. I got up and walked to my car. There was still enough light left to help me find my way. I somehow managed to let my freezing and shivering hands open the car door. I sat in the car and slowly turned the car on. I knew the man wouldn’t be back he already did his damage, or maybe he thought I drowned. Why did he do this to me anyway? Was I just some helpless and clumsy victim he could get his hands on first? I would never know the answer to the many questions I had.
